Signature Stamps on Election Documents

PA 79 amends Michigan Election Law to permit a physically disabled voter who is unable to sign his or her name to use a signature stamp on a Voter Registration Application or other election documents. Previous law only permitted the voter to make "his or her mark" on these documents. Now the law allows a mark or a signature stamp on election documents that include, but are not limited to, all of the following:

  • Voter Registration Application
  • Application to Vote
  • Absent Voter (AV) Ballot Application
  • Emergency AV Ballot Application
  • AV Ballot Return Envelope

The Law does require that the voter's mark or signature stamp be included on the voter's Master Card even if the stamp or mark is contained within the QVF digitized signature file.
