The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) consists of five Detective Sergeants and six Detectives, including West Michigan Enforcement Team (WEMET). The CID investigates major criminal complaints, computer-based crime as well as vice and narcotics activity. The CID is supervised by Captain Rick Walters.
Detectives conduct follow-up investigations of cases including serious felonies, child abuse and criminal sexual conduct cases, juvenile crime referrals and arson. Holland Police Department (HPD) also has a Detective who specializes in computer-based crime and computer forensics. The Criminal Investigations Division handles about 1,200 to 1,300 cases a year.
Our Department is fortunate to have an in-house certified polygraph (lie detector test) examiner who also assists other Law Enforcement agencies in West Michigan.
