On September 15, 2023 just before 12:00 p.m. officers and firefighters of the HDPS responded to the new construction area at the LG Chem facility by Waverly Rd and 48th, for a report of a work place accident.
Responders located the victim, a 41 year old man from Louisiana, who was part of a crew working on the new construction with a serious head injury. A pipe had been pressurized for testing and during the pressure release process, a plate on the pipe system was being released but suddenly broke free and struck the victim, damaging his hard hat and causing a the injury. He was transported to Holland Hospital by AMR.
Due to this being a workplace accident MiOSHA was notified and responded to conduct their investigation. Any further inquires will need to be directed to MiOSHA.
