[ARCHIVED] No Injuries as a Result of a Late Evening Apartment Fire in Holland

An apartment fire and Holland Fire Department personnel at 305 Stratford Way 07.22.2024

Last evening at 11:25 P.M., Holland fire units were dispatched to 305 Stratford Way for a structure fire. While responding a caller to 911 reported that there was a fire in the living room of an apartment on the second floor. Upon arrival crews advised that they had a 2 story apartment building with heavy smoke coming from the windows of a second floor apartment. Firefighters made quick entry into the affected apartment unit to extinguish the fire and conduct a search to confirm that all occupants had safely evacuated. Additional arriving firefighters checked apartments adjacent for fire extension and to make sure occupants were accounted for.

The fire was extinguished shortly after arrival and was confined to the apartment of origin which sustained significant fire, heat and smoke damage. Damage estimates have not yet been determined and an investigation will be conducted to determine the origin and cause of the fire. There were no injuries to occupants or responding firefighters.

The department was assisted by the Holland Police, the Holland Twp. Fire Department, and American Medical Response. The HDPS Victim Advocates and American Red Cross assisted with the needs of the building occupants and temporary lodging until unaffected units can be inspected and reoccupied if possible.

As a reminder, the department would like to remind everyone to check their smoke alarms on a monthly basis. These devices provide early indication of a fire in your home and save lives. Do your part and check yours today.
