Beginning at Noon on Saturday, June 21, Gateway Mission will offer emergency cooling centers.
The Gateway Men’s Center and the Gateway Women and Children’s Center will be open for unsheltered families and individuals. Due to the expected heat, the cooling centers will be open during the day through Monday, June 23. If you or someone you know needs a cool place to escape the excessive heat, please direct them to Gateway Mission.
Gateway Mission will offer Emergency Cooling Centers from 8 AM to 8 PM, beginning at noon on June 21.

Additionally, anyone needing overnight emergency shelter is encouraged to check in and stay at Gateway Mission during these hazardous conditions.
- Unsheltered individuals who wish to stay past 8 PM will be welcome to check into our Open Door emergency shelter.
- All individuals who do not pose a threat to others are welcome to check in. This includes individuals who may have recently left the mission and are currently living without shelter or do not meet our residency requirements.
- People experiencing homelessness will be strongly encouraged to remain indoors until the “Code Red” has ended.
- Open Door guests will be allowed to stay in the lounge during the day.
Beginning Wednesday, June 18, Refresh will be open during normal business hours and allow members of the community to cool down.
