Cooling Centers for Extreme Heat
The Gateway Men’s Center and the Gateway Women and Children’s Center will be open for unsheltered individuals and families. Due to the expected heat, the cooling centers will be open during the day through Friday, July 25. If you or someone you know needs a cool place to escape the excessive heat, please direct them to Gateway Mission.
Gateway Mission will offer Emergency Cooling Centers from 8 AM to 8 PM, beginning on Wednesday, July 23.

Additionally, anyone in need of overnight emergency shelter is encouraged to check in and stay at Gateway Mission during these hazardous conditions.
- Unsheltered individuals who wish to stay past 8 PM will be welcome to check into our Open Door emergency shelter.
- All individuals who do not pose a threat to others are welcome to check in. This includes individuals who may have recently left the mission and are currently living without shelter or do not meet our residency requirements.
- People experiencing homelessness will be strongly encouraged to remain indoors until the heat has ended.
- Open Door guests will be allowed to stay in the lounges during the day.
