[ARCHIVED] Subject Stabbed in Holland

February 27, 2020

To: Area Media

From:  Captain Robert Buursma

REF:       Subject Stabbed

On 02/27/20 just before 12:30 a.m. officers of the HDPS were dispatched to a residence in the 200 Block of W 15th street on a report of a subject stabbed.

Initial investigation indicates that the victim, a 32 year old Holland man, and the suspect, a 45 year Holland man, had gotten into a verbal argument.   Both the suspect and victim rent different rooms in the residence from the landlord.   Due to conflicting statements it is unclear what caused the initial argument.   Eventually the dispute became a physical altercation during which the suspect picked up a knife and cut the victim.

The victim was transported to Holland Hospital for treatment for two minor lacerations.   The suspect was taken into custody at the scene and lodged at the Ottawa County Jail.

Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the incident.
