REF: Subject Shot
On July 16, 2020 at about 2:30 p.m. officers of the Holland Department were dispatched to an altercation in the area of Washington and 19th street. Officers responded to the area and found that at least 1 subject was assaulted but the groups had separated. Shortly after officers arrived on scene shots were heard from the area of 18th st. just west of Washington Ave.
The shots are believed to have come from a vehicle which was on 18th St., and the shots were directed at 2 subjects on the sidewalk near the corner. One of the subjects, a 32 year-old Holland man was shot 5 times. The other individual was not injured. The 32 year old was transported to Holland Hospital and has since be transferred to Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids. The current condition of the victim is currently unknown.
Detectives are attempting to identify the suspects in the shooting. The incident is believed to be gang related.
