Holland Teen Court (HTC)

Holland Teen Court  was founded in 1991, when Holland City officials and citizens had the vision to launch a Youth Justice System that would empower young people to be leaders in their community. Holland Teen Court was designed to provide youth with the necessary tools to demonstrate the power they have, individually and collectively, to influence others and make positive changes in their own lives and in their community.

Holland Youth Advisory Council (HYAC) 2025-26

HYAC consists of students from Holland area high schools. Students in HYAC can serve on city boards or youth boards. Students sitting on city boards are known as Youth on Boards (YOB). They learn how the city commissions work, such as the Human Relations Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, and many more that support the city of Holland. Students are expected to listen and learn and participate in board discussions.

Students who serve on student-led boards (made up of HYAC students) plan events in the city, such as beach clean-ups, scavenger hunts, Easter Egg hunts. They also volunteer in the community at events such as Holiday at the Farm, tulip planting and at Community Action House.

Students are required to attend 75% of the monthly meetings from September through May.

HYAC students also participate in orientation, Senior Farewell and attend dinner and a Council meeting, while learning to work as a team and developing leadership skills. It is a great way to give back to the community, while learning how city government works.
