Biography
Michael, born in Brooklyn, NY, spent his childhood in New York City and later joined the U.S. Navy in 1998. He served in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering. In 2007, he married Shannon and began his transition out of the Navy. They moved to Wilmington, NC, where Michael taught nuclear operators at a utility while Shannon taught special education. In 2015, they moved to Holland, MI, where Michael took a management job at Palisades Nuclear Plant. Michael and Shannon had a son, Miles, who is currently thriving in the Holland Christian Forest School program. Michael and his family participate in the Harderwyk Ministries community in their faith journey.
Community Involvement
In 2017, Michael was elected Chairman of the Holland Civic Center Board Members and has since focused on decreasing subsidy and increasing community access. In 2022, he began participating in the Washington School Neighbors Board, a non-profit organization designed to support the local neighborhood. Michael was elected to serve on the Holland City Council in November of 2023 as Council Member At-Large.
