Appointment Process

The first step for consideration is to apply using the online form.  

  • One may apply for a current vacancy or a specific BCC in which one may have an interest.
  • We review your application as soon as we get it.  But we don't make appointments until we have openings on specific BCCs.
  • If there is an opening, one may be contacted for a phone or in-person interview.
  • Once this review is completed, a background check is completed, and if everything is in order, a recommendation will be made to the Mayor and City Council for the appointment.
  • Then the Applicant is sworn in by the City Clerk. 
  • The staff liaison to the BCC will then be in contact regarding meetings, providing orientation, and other meeting details.
  • If you applied for a BCC that doesn't have openings, don't worry.  Your application is good for at least a full year.
