Environmental Committee

The Environmental Committee hosted another beach clean-up at Holland State Park with the Hope College Office of Sustainability. Here is all the trash they removed from the beach.

The Environmental Committee teamed up with ten restaurants in downtown to participate in National Skip the Straw Day, February 24th. Posters, table tent cards and buttons were everywhere. Thanks to all who took part in skipping the straw!

Participating restaurants include Big E's, Bowerman's on Eighth, Crane's in the City, HopCat, Hops at 84 East, Mizu Sushi, New Holland Brewing, OI Asian Bistro, The Curragh Irish Pub, and Waverly Stone Gastropub.

Thirty kids and adults gathered at CultureWorks on February 18th to hear Madelene Black Bear from the Pokagon band of the Potawatomi talk about their culture, their relationship with environment and how they use what the Creator has given them in a presentation on Learning about Sustainability from the Native American Community.

The Environmental Committee started this year with a beach clean-up at Holland State Park. The committee teamed up with M.A.C.C. and Hope College Office of Sustainability. We had over 20 volunteers who picked up 75-80 lbs. of mostly small pieces of plastic.  Way to go volunteers!
