Audit Committee
Reviews all issues identified by the independent auditing firm during the audit process and reviews recommendations to improve financial procedures and management policies.

The Board of Appeals is the only body empowered to grant variances from code or ordinance requirements.

The Board is comprised of three City of Holland residents and two City of Holland department heads other than from the Assessing Office.

Brownfield Authority
Review matters relating to current and new Brownfield projects, economic development policies, and other related matters.

Building Authority
Provides funding mechanism through the issuance of bonds to provide financing for public building projects.

Civic Center Place Board
Oversee all operations of the Civic Center Place building and parking area so as to provide events and activities for the community in a financially sustainable manner.

Community Energy Plan Steering Committee
To realize the Holland Community Energy Plan’s primary outcomes in an incremental and strategic manner to achieve optimum results for the community.

To make determinations and recommendations on salary of elected City officials.

Dangerous Structures Hearing Officers
Make decisions about the control and abatement of dangerous buildings in accordance with state law.

Review downtown signage for public and private signs and other design issues in the Downtown Zoning Districts.

To review downtown issues and set policy and/or make decision on gamut of issues.

Oversees and facilitates downtown parking issues and the Downtown Parking Strategic Plan.

Farmers Market Advisory Board
Responsible for guiding the Farmers Market staff in making decisions about the market operations and procedures.

Holland Sustainability Committee
The Sustainability Committee was dissolved by a vote at the Holland City Council meeting on July 6, 2022.

Holland Youth Advisory Council
Holland Youth Advisory Council was formed in 2003 to provide the City Council with input on youth related issues.

Human Relations Commission
The City of Holland recognizes the inherent right of its inhabitants to strive to fulfill their goals and aspirations unhindered by discrimination based on or resulting from considerations of race, creed, handicap, educational association, color, sex, age, marital status, national origin or association. Therefore, in 1966, the City of Holland created the Human Relations Commission.

International Relations Commission (IRC)
In 1993, the City of Holland created the International Relations Commission to promote international/cross-cultural knowledge, awareness, understanding, and sensitivity through interactions within the community and across borders.

Neighborhood Improvement Committee
In 2013 the City of Holland took the proactive step of combining the Community Development Committee, the Ourstreet Committee and the Neighborhood Advisory Committee into one new committee, called the Neighborhood Improvement Committee.

Parks and Recreation Commission
To review/provide recommendations to Council regarding diverse leisure and cultural services intended to improve neighborhoods/services for citizens that enhance the quality of life through its parks, recreational programs, and other leisure activities for the benefit of the health, safety, and general welfare of the City.

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission advises city officials in matters of planning and development of the community, prepares plans and makes recommendations for land-use and the environment.

Police-Community Relations Commission
To provide an understanding of the Police Department activities and communicate information to the community; to provide awareness of current community problems and to address issues arising in the community.

Principal Shopping District (PSD)
Responsible for overseeing marketing, promotion, and event planning efforts for the benefit of Downtown Holland.

Public Art Advisory Committee
The Public Art Advisory Committee provides strategic input and advice to City Council on the opportunities and procedures for supporting the addition of public art throughout the City and the policies necessary to address these opportunities.

Teen Court Board
Holland Teen Court was founded in 1991, when Holland City officials and citizens had a vision to launch a Youth Justice System that would empower young people to be leaders in their community.

South Shore Village Business Improvement District
City Council established the South Shore Village Business Improvement District (BID) on May 13, 2015. Council established the District to promote land development and economic growth in the area (see attached map). Since the creation of the District, the City partnered with the district property and business owners as well as the State to fund and construct the South Shore Village streetscape and pedestrian promenade improvements which have been a great success.

Washington Square Business Improvement District
City Council established the Washington Square Business Improvement District (BID) on May 13, 2015. Council established the district to promote land development and economic growth in the area (see attached map). Since the creation of the district, there have been several new businesses that have moved into the Square with at least one of them directly benefiting from the BID. The Washington Square businesses have continued to promote the Square and to hold festivities and events that cater to the surrounding neighborhood and beyond.
